BRIEF HISTORY
1.81 Field Regiment was raised at Jalandhar under 27 Artillery Brigade as a Heavy Mortar Regiment on 01 March 1961. Lieutenant Colonel Sreedhar Man Singh,Veer Chakra was the first Commanding Officer.Up to May 1999,the Regiment had pure class composition batteries that is:-
- Rajput
- Jat
- Bihari
2.The Regiment,has since it's raising,participated in all the wars.The Regiment moved to Lohtipur in North east Frontier Area during Sino-Indian War(Click Here For More Details).In 1965 Operations the Regiment was Deployed in KAKKAR-RANIAN Sector in support of 38 Infantry Brigade.In 1971 Operations,The Regiment was deployed in support of 191 Infantry Brigade in CHHAMB Sector.
3.The Regiment has served commendably in various field tenures,high altitude areas,counter insurgency areas and Line Of Control(Click Here For More Information.)Environment.This is the second tenure of the Regiment in Dehradun under 14 Artillery Brigade.The Regiment arrived at Dehradun on 09 October 08,having de-inducted from Tangdhar(J&K).
